Privacy Policy
Bag Solutions Partners makes paper bags and sacks for business customers in Australia and New Zealand. We collect a small amount of personal information to do that – mainly the contact details of the people we deal with at our customers and suppliers. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles and, in our dealings with New Zealand customers and suppliers, by the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ) and the New Zealand Information Privacy Principles.
Who we are
Thomastown Bag Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 73 700 735 575), trading as Bag Solutions Partners. Our address is 49B Temple Dr, Thomastown VIC 3074. In this policy “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Bag Solutions Partners.
What we collect
We collect the information we need to quote, supply, and get paid. For most people that is their name, job title, employer, and business contact details, along with a record of our dealings with them – enquiries, quotes, orders, deliveries, and any issues. If your business applies for a trade account we also collect the information on the credit application form, which may include the names and contact details of directors, guarantors, and trade references. We may also collect credit information about your business and its directors and guarantors (see “Credit information” below). If you apply for a job with us, we collect the information in your application. If you visit our site, we record your name, employer, and arrival and departure times in our visitor register, and our premises are monitored by CCTV for safety and security.
We collect this information directly from you when you contact us, submit the enquiry form on our website, place an order or sign a credit application. Sometimes we collect it from your colleagues (for example when you are nominated as the purchasing or accounts contact) or from public sources such as company registers. We also received customer and supplier records from Opal when we acquired the paper bags and sacks business from it.
Our website
Our website records standard visitor information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, and uses cookies to work properly and to help us understand how it is used. We may use Google Analytics and other analytics tools to produce aggregated statistics about how visitors use the website. You can turn cookies off in your browser. Information you submit through the enquiry form is sent to our sales team so we can respond to you.
How we use it
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, quote and supply goods, set up and manage customer and supplier accounts, invoice and collect payment, deal with complaints, keep our site safe, meet our legal obligations, protect and enforce our legal rights (including by registering security interests on the Personal Property Securities Registers in Australia and New Zealand), recruit staff, and run our business. We may also let existing business contacts know about products or changes that are relevant to them. You can opt out of that at any time by replying to the email or contacting us. Every marketing email we send includes a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We share personal information where we need to run the business, including with: the providers that host our IT systems, email, and business software; freight and logistics contractors; our insurers, brokers, bankers, accountants, and lawyers; trade references and credit reporting bodies (see “Credit information” below); debt collection agencies; the Personal Property Securities Registers in Australia and New Zealand; our related bodies corporate, including our parent company in the United States, for management, shared services, and group reporting; and Opal, which hosts and supports some of our IT systems and business records under a transitional services agreement for a period after the transfer of the business to us, and with which we exchange information to complete the transfer of customer and supplier records and open orders. We may also disclose personal information to courts, regulators, and law enforcement agencies, and otherwise where required or authorised by law. Some of these recipients store or access data outside Australia and New Zealand, mainly in the United States and, while Opal provides transitional services to us, in the countries where Opal’s systems are hosted. If you are in New Zealand, your information will also be held in Australia. We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas recipients handle it properly. We do not sell personal information.
Credit information
If your business applies for a trade account, we may obtain a credit report on the business and, with their consent, on its directors and any guarantors from a credit reporting body, and we may give the credit reporting body information about the application, the account and any payment defaults. We use credit information only to assess a credit application or guarantee, to manage the account, and to collect debts, and we handle it in accordance with Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code or, in New Zealand, the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020. The credit reporting bodies we deal with, and how to contact them, are set out in our credit application form and are available from us on request. Each credit reporting body has its own policy explaining how it handles credit information, which you can obtain from its website. A credit reporting body may use credit information to pre-screen you for direct marketing by other credit providers; you can ask the body not to do this. If you believe you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud, you can ask a credit reporting body not to use or disclose your credit information for 21 days (Australia) or 10 working days (New Zealand). You can ask us for access to, or correction of, the credit information we hold about you, or make a complaint, using the contact details below.
How we protect it
Personal information is held in our business systems, which are hosted by reputable cloud providers, and in hard copy at our site where necessary. We protect it with access controls, multi-factor authentication, and staff training. When we no longer need it and are not required by law to keep it, we delete or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, where the New Zealand Privacy Act applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand), and the people affected, as the law requires.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or raise a concern about how we have handled it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond, generally within 30 days (or, for requests under the New Zealand Privacy Act, within 20 working days). If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or, in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one on our website.
